Friday 20th October

Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,

I am delighted to bring you the latest news and exciting updates from Llangan Primary School as we immerse ourselves in the vibrant autumnal atmosphere of October. This month, our school community has experienced a whirlwind of activities and accomplishments, showcasing the talent and dedication of our students, teachers, and parents.

Celebrating New Beginnings:

I am thrilled to announce the joyous news that Miss Wilson, is expecting a baby and will be embarking on her maternity leave at the end of November. We wish her all the best as she prepares for this exciting journey. Members of our dedicated governing body conducted interviews this week to appoint a suitable replacement for the Junior Plaza Classes. I am delighted to introduce Mr. H. Thomas, who emerged successfully from a pool of talented candidates. Mr. Thomas will be joining the Llangan Team on Monday, November 24th. Please join me in welcoming him warmly to our school family. In the weeks leading up to his start date, Mr Thomas will be spending time in school getting to know the children and having an induction into life in Llangan. I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Miss Wilson when the time comes and we look forward to welcoming her back to school in June.

Spooktacular Halloween Festivities:

The Halloween spirit was in the air as our school path transformed into a ghoulish garden Thanks to the hard work of our enthusiastic Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) members, the path leading to the school was adorned with spooky decorations, creating a festive atmosphere for our students. On Friday afternoon the children participated in a pumpkin carving session, a wonderfully organised event led by our PTA. The creativity of our pupils shone through as they carved intricate designs into pumpkins generously donated by Forage Farm Shop. The Halloween fun continues with our much-anticipated Halloween disco on Wednesday, October 25th, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm in the school hall. Don't forget to grab your tickets on Parent Pay for an evening of spooktacular fun!

Important Dates and Reminders:

1. Inset Day - Monday, November 6th:

A friendly reminder that Monday, November 6th, is Inset Day. The school will be closed to pupils as our dedicated staff engage in training provided by Think Matters, an education consultancy firm on developing thinking skill strategies further as a school. We are also excited to welcome staff from Llansannor and Y Bontfaen, fostering collaborative learning amongst educators.

2. Parent-Teacher Conferences:

We are delighted to announce that 100% of our parents have signed up for the upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences. These meetings are invaluable opportunities for parents, teachers, and students to come together and discuss progress. The meetings will be held in person at the school, with teachers available in their respective classrooms. Students are encouraged to accompany their parents to actively engage in discussions about their learning journey.

During the meetings, teachers will discuss the pupil's most recent assessment data, set targets for the upcoming term, and provide a general progress update. Parents will receive a pupil target sheet containing assessment data and targets to take home. As the meetings are limited to 5 minutes each, we kindly request that parents adhere to the provided agenda to ensure that everyone has a chance to discuss their child's progress.

For any queries or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us at llanganps@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk or call us at 01446 772403. Your active participation is crucial for your child's academic growth.

3. Car Park Safety and Courtesy:

Our school boasts a spacious car park, a privilege we are grateful for. To maintain a safe environment, we urge all visitors to follow the rules diligently.

  •  The speed limit when driving in the car park is 5 miles an hour.
  •  Reverse into parking spaces (this makes it safer for you when leaving your space.)
  • Please do not park in the lane/verge leading to the car park as it is causing a queue of traffic which has in turn blocked the main road. (This happened again on Friday 20th October).
  •  Children and visitors must walk along the path behind the chain fence.

Children must be accompanied from the car to the gate in the mornings by a responsible adult, and are NOT allowed to run across the car park to the gate unaccompanied.

4. Colorfoto Day - Monday, October 23rd:

Capture the smiles! Monday, October 23rd, is Colorfoto Day. Our skilled photographers will be capturing individual and sibling photos. Kindly ensure your child is dressed in full school uniform to make these memories memorable.

5. Parent Engagement Events:

We recently shared the dates of our upcoming Parental Engagement Events. We are excited to provide you with more information closer to the event dates. Your active involvement in these events strengthens our school community, fostering a collaborative spirit between parents, teachers, and students.

As we navigate through this academic year, I am deeply appreciative of your continuous support and involvement in your child's education. Together, we are shaping a nurturing environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.
